Varna was part of the international online event Global StartupCities Summit 2020

As part of the European StartupCities Network and thanks to the extremely successful first pilot project implemented between two European startup cities Varna and Cluj-Napoca, Varna co-organized the Global Startup City Summit 2020, which ended last week, together with the cities of Malaga, Valencia and Cologne, Braga, Cluj-Napoca, Heraklion, Ostrava, Vantaa and Wroclaw.

The innovative and startup ecosystem in our sea capital again had a strong participation at international level. The most active organizations, entrepreneurs and innovators were united and presented Varna with dignity and thus we once again rank our city among the most modern and developed European cities and innovation centers.

Official guests of the event were the Vice-President of the European Commission and EU Commissioner for Democracy and Demography - Dubravka Suica, EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth - Maria Gabriel, representatives of the European Parliament and the European Commission, as well as mayors and co-organizers.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Varna - Ivan Portnich, and representatives of the most active organizations, companies, corporations, NGOs and universities joined forces to create a video that will be distributed to other European communities and organizations, promoting our city as innovation center with potential development.

We are happy to announce that the Chairman of the Bulgarian Business Forums and Innowave Summit - Dimitar Vassilev, is part of the leadership team of Global Startup Cities and will head the Young Directorate, which will be responsible for project development in rural areas and regions, outside the capital to the #EiA Global Startup Cities initiative.
